This historical girl’s camp, established in 1916 in beautiful Peninsula State Park, is filled with stories and memories that shaped the lives of many women for over 30 years. Although no longer in operation, many of the features of the camp can still be seen today while walking through the grounds. Rudimentary, dated maps exist of the camp, but exact locations of the features have not been mapped in quite some time. Over time, these features may be more difficult to locate due to vegetation, erosion, and lack of access. What is to become of this landmark that was so much of Peninsula State Park and Fish Creek?
Join Kathleen Harris, Peninsula State Park Naturalist, as you uncover the history behind the camp, what it meant for the park and the community, and how to best share this story with others.
